WHY CHOOSE HARDWOOD FLOORS?
Expert installation and finishing from an S&S Floor Surfacing specialist
Hardwood floors give you a lifetime of uniqueness and beauty (when properly cared for).
Cracks: All hardwood floors will crack between boards. Wood is a natural product that responds to the moisture content in the air. When the air is dry, the wood shrinks especially in the winter when heating your home. Use a humidifier to help maintain your wood and minimize cracking. Cracks will be more visible on floors with light or white stain colors.
Because it is impossible to create a dust-free environment, small particles of dust will get trapped in your finish. They are usually unnoticeable and will wear away as you begin to use the hardwood floor.
A table top finish. All wood varies in grain and texture making a completely flat finish impossible.
A monotone colored floor. Each piece of wood has its own unique characteristics which add to its beauty and character.
A floor that is scratch proof, dent proof, or water proof. The finishes we use are extremely durable but they can be damaged. Heavy furniture or equipment will mar or scratch the floor and high heels missing their protective cap will dent a hardwood floor. Also, spills that are not wiped up immediately can spot or warp the floor.
A floor that will not fade or amber. Although the polyurethane's we use today are of superior quality, it is part of their chemical nature to yellow or amber over time, especially when the floor is exposed to direct sunlight.
